A Georgia roof stripped to bare decking with synthetic underlayment being rolled out, neighborhood below

Upatoi, Georgia · Residential & Commercial

Your roof is
built from the
deck up.

Anybody can lay shingles. We tear off to bare wood, replace the decking that's gone soft, dry the whole roof in, and only then start nailing. That's the difference you don't see from the driveway — and the reason the roof is still tight in fifteen years.

Who you're calling

A local crew, not a
storm-chasing van.

United Roofing works out of Upatoi and stays inside the Chattahoochee Valley on purpose. We're on your roof, our own crew is doing the work, and the phone number on the estimate is the same one you'll call three winters from now if a shingle lifts.

What we do

Four jobs, done properly.

01 / REPLACE

Roof replacement

Full tear-off to the deck, rotten sheathing swapped out, synthetic underlayment across the whole roof, then architectural shingles nailed to spec. Most homes finish in a day.

02 / REPAIR

Roof repair

Leaks traced back to where the water actually enters — valleys, pipe boots, chimney flashing, nail pops — and fixed. We'll tell you honestly if a repair buys you five more years or five more months.

03 / STORM

Storm & insurance work

Hail and wind damage documented properly, emergency tarping the same day, and someone from our side standing on the roof with your adjuster. See how claims work →

04 / COMMERCIAL

Commercial & church roofs

Churches, offices, retail and low-slope buildings. Phased tear-offs so your doors stay open, dry-in every night, and a crew that keeps the parking lot clean.

Start to finish

What happens after you call.

Six steps, in this order, every time. No surprises bolted on at the end.

STEP 01

You call or text

706-326-1229 gets a person. We set a time that works — evenings and Saturdays included.

STEP 02

We walk the roof

Every slope, every penetration, photographed. Drone footage on steep or commercial roofs.

STEP 03

You get the report

Photos and a line-item estimate you can actually read. No pressure, no expiring discount.

STEP 04

Insurance, if it applies

We file alongside you and meet the adjuster on the roof so nothing gets missed.

STEP 05

Install day

Tear-off, decking, dry-in, shingles. Yard tarped, gutters cleared, magnet run over the whole property.

STEP 06

Final walk

We show you the ridge, the flashing and the cleanup before we load the truck.

BEFORE A SINGLE SHINGLE GOES ON
  • Old roof stripped to bare wood — never laid over
  • Every sheet of decking checked, soft ones replaced
  • Drip edge set at eaves and rakes
  • Ice & water shield in valleys and around penetrations
  • Synthetic underlayment across the whole deck
  • Chalk lines snapped so every course runs true

The part nobody photographs

Chalk lines,
then shingles.

Straight courses aren't luck. Lines get snapped across bare deck so every row lands where it should, the underlayment goes down before weather can, and the ridge vent gets cut for real airflow instead of being nailed over. Look closely at any roof we've finished — the courses run true from the eave to the ridge.

Services

Everything above
the top plate.

Shingles, metal, flat and low-slope, gutters, ventilation and the decking underneath all of it. Residential and commercial, across Upatoi, Columbus and the surrounding counties.

RESIDENTIAL

Full roof replacement

Architectural shingles over a complete tear-off. Nothing gets laid over an old roof.

  • Deck inspected sheet by sheet, soft OSB replaced
  • Drip edge at eaves and rakes
  • Ice & water shield in valleys and around penetrations
  • Synthetic underlayment over the entire deck
  • Manufacturer nailing pattern, hand-checked
RESIDENTIAL

Repairs & leak tracing

Water rarely enters where the stain shows up. We find the entry point first.

  • Valley and flashing rebuilds
  • Pipe boots, vents and chimney counter-flashing
  • Wind-lifted and creased shingle replacement
  • Nail-pop and exposed-fastener sealing
  • Interior sheathing and rafter checks
COMMERCIAL

Commercial & low-slope

Churches, offices, warehouses, retail centers and multi-family.

  • Steep-slope and low-slope on the same building
  • Phased tear-offs — you stay open
  • Dried in every single night
  • Curb, unit and skylight flashing detailed
  • Property manager updates with photos
STRUCTURE

Decking & structural repair

The part of the job that gets skipped by the cheap bid.

  • Rotted and delaminated sheathing replaced
  • Rafter and truss tail repairs
  • Fascia and soffit rebuilds
  • Re-nailing to current code where required
AIRFLOW

Ventilation & ridge vent

A hot attic in a Georgia August will cook a roof from underneath.

  • Continuous ridge vent, cut and installed properly
  • Soffit intake opened and baffled
  • Turtle, turbine and power vent options
  • Balanced intake-to-exhaust calculations
WATER

Gutters & drainage

A new roof dumping water against your foundation is only half a job.

  • Seamless 5" and 6" gutter
  • Downspout sizing and redirection
  • Guards and screens
  • Kick-out flashing where roof meets wall

The system

What's actually under
your shingles.

Bottom to top. Skip any one of these and the roof above it is borrowing time.

01Roof deck7/16" OSB or plank sheathing — anything soft or delaminated comes off
02Drip edgeMetal at every eave and rake so water leaves the roof instead of curling back
03Ice & water shieldSelf-adhering membrane in valleys and around every penetration
04Synthetic underlaymentFull-deck coverage — the roof is watertight before a single shingle goes on
05Starter courseSealed strip along eaves and rakes — where wind uplift begins
06Architectural shinglesSnapped to line, nailed in the manufacturer's strip, six per shingle in high wind
07Hip & ridge capPurpose-made cap, not cut-up field shingles
08Ridge ventDeck cut back and vented so the attic can actually breathe

Storm damage & insurance claims

Hail doesn't
wait for
business hours.

If a storm just came through, two things matter: getting water out of the building today, and documenting the damage before anything gets cleaned up. We do both. Call 706-326-1229 — day or night.

Know what you're looking at

Signs your roof
took a hit.

Most hail and wind damage isn't visible from the ground, and a lot of it doesn't leak until months later — long after the claim window has closed. If a storm rolled through, get it looked at.

  • Granules collecting in gutters and at downspout splash blocks
  • Dark bruised spots that feel soft when pressed
  • Shingles lifted, creased or missing along ridges and rakes
  • Dents in vents, gutters, flashing, AC fins or the mailbox
  • Ceiling or wall stains that appear days after the storm
  • Exposed nail heads and torn pipe boots
  • Sagging or spongy spots underfoot in the attic
  • Debris impact, fallen limbs or punctured decking

How a claim goes

You are not doing
this on your own.

FIRST

Stop the water

Emergency tarping, usually the same day. We shrink the damage before it becomes a bigger claim and a bigger mess inside.

THEN

Document everything

Full photo and drone survey of every slope, dated, with close-ups of impact points and interior damage. That file is what your claim stands on.

NEXT

Meet the adjuster

We climb up with them. Damage gets missed when nobody from your side is on the roof pointing at it.

FINALLY

Build it back

We work to the approved scope, handle supplements when hidden damage shows up during tear-off, and finish the job to code.

A note on honesty: not every storm produces a claimable roof. If we get up there and your roof is fine, we'll tell you it's fine and you'll owe us nothing.

IF A STORM JUST CAME THROUGH
  • Call 706-326-1229 before you clean anything up
  • Photograph interior damage and where water is coming in
  • Move what you can out from under active drips
  • Don't get on the roof yourself — wet shingles and hidden soft decking
  • Wait on the adjuster; we'll be up there with them

Commercial & churches

Big buildings,
same urgency.

Sanctuaries, schools, offices and retail centers can't just close for a month. We tarp the open sections, phase the tear-off so only one area is exposed at a time, and dry the roof in before the crew leaves each evening. Property managers get photo updates as we go.

Water is still moving

Call before the
drywall gives up.

Our work

Straight courses,
clean ridges.

Homes in Columbus and Upatoi, a church sanctuary, a commercial office block. Different buildings, same order of operations: strip it, fix the deck, dry it in, then shingle.

Recent jobs

Three roofs, three problems.

RESIDENTIAL · COLUMBUS

Two-story re-roof

Full tear-off on a steep hip roof with multiple valleys. Several sheets of soft decking replaced, ice & water shield run through every valley, synthetic underlayment across the deck, architectural shingles and new ridge vent. On and off the property in a day and a half.

CHURCH · STORM

Sanctuary & education wing

Wind took the education wing down to sheathing. We tarped the open section, then phased the tear-off so services never stopped — sanctuary side finished first, wing rebuilt after, roof dried in every night.

COMMERCIAL · OFFICE

Office block re-roof

Aerial survey documented the damage for the claim before a shingle moved. Tarped the exposed slope, replaced decking along the rear elevation, re-roofed the whole building while tenants kept working below.
